Brand Design
Pictured here are a series of sketches that showed typographic, representational, and abstract versions of what the final logo could look like.
Digital iterations were created from the sketches and took more of a typographic approach. The pancake symbol best describes the brand of the company to show that Buttercream specializes in diner food.
A final logo was created that best translated the retro aesthetic while keeping it modern at the same time. Since the logo was decided, several color palettes were applied that could translate the brand.

The finalized logo was chosen from the four options and slightly modified. The pink color was kept from the original logo to keep Buttercream's retro authenticity. The typeface chosen best described a 1950's aesthetic with a modern approach and was easy to visually understand from far away distances.

A rebrand was developed as part of a college-level design project issued to Buttercream Bakery and Diner. Buttercream is a bakery and diner located in Napa, CA known for their diner food as well as their donuts. The intent of this challenge was to reimagine a new logo for the diner that would best represent the brand. Looking at their original aesthetic, Buttercream has a 1950’s theme of black and white checkered flooring as well as retro typography paired with pink and white striped coloring. From there, the rebrand aimed toward keeping the original coloring and theme while taking a modern approach to attract a wider clientele. Sketches and digital illustrations were created that would best translate the intent of the project
